I’ve had a dream for a long time: to join a factory team. That dream is now a reality thanks to KTM. A manufacturer no longer renowned solely for their success in other categories or off road, they’ve put their trust in me and I’m very aware of the responsibility that awaits me. Fans and the media certainly remind me enough, too!
For their third season in MotoGP™, KTM want to begin a new era and fight at the front much more often. They need a lot from me, and I can’t deny the expectation around my move – especially after Pol’s podium in Valencia. Everyone wants to know what Zarco can do on the RC16 after my first two years were pretty promising in MotoGP™…
I know I’ve not chosen the easiest path, and that the road to take this bike to the top of MotoGP™ remains long – it will take time. But I’ve never shied away from hard work and I refuse to give in to any pressure because this prototype has serious potential. I’m ready for the challenge, alongside Pol, Miguel, Hafizh, Dani, Mika and everyone else at KTM – because it’s a big family.
After all, doesn’t the saying go that ‘to win without risk is to triumph without glory’? And to take this KTM to the top would be a great achievement for the first winner of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup…perfectly closing the circle.
