Despite ending Friday at the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya just outside the provisional automatic Q2 places, Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) is confident heading into the rest of his weekend’s action.
MotoGP™ FP2 in Catalonia: Who will top Free Practice Friday?
The Spaniard didn’t get on with a soft tyre he tried in FP2 as the MotoGP™ riders went for fast lap times, with Rins setting his best lap on a set of medium Michelins. So, a P11 on a set of mediums surely stands the number 42 in good stead for the race at least?
“(It) was good today. We started FP2 with a soft and it was working really bad, I don’t know if there was something wrong with the tyre but immediately we put in the medium one,” commented Rins. “Lap by lap I built my rhythm and it was nice. We did a lot of high 40s even though the track was dirty so we’re on a good path.”

However, it’s now important for Rins and Suzuki to get themselves into the top ten during FP3. A better qualifying is all that’s really missing from Rins’ armour this season, so find out if he can get himself an automatic Q2 place on Saturday morning at 09:55 local time (GMT+2).
