Espargaro undergoes encouraging medical checks

Significant ligament damage has been ruled out, Aprilia rider diagnosed with micro-fracture to the femur and an injury to the left tibia

As Andrea Iannone and Bradley Smith continue developing the RS-GP on the day of testing after the Barcelona race, Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) visited the Aprilia garage.

The Spanish rider, involved in an accident yesterday, suffered a micro-fracture to the femur and an injury to the left tibia. At the moment, significant damage to the ligaments has been ruled out, so Aleix can begin recovery quickly.

The situation with the knee will be assessed in the coming days in anticipation of the Assen race. Espargaro’s goal is to be back in the saddle as soon as possible.

Espargaro: “I'm relieved since the medical check-up showed a better situation than we had initially expected. In any case, I'm sorry to have missed this day of testing. My goal is to begin recovery as soon as possible and speed up my return to the saddle, compatible with the feedback from the doctors. They told me that in a couple days I’ll be able to get back to cycling and I’m counting down the hours!”
