Aprilia Racing Team Gresini Technical Manager Romano Albesiano has revealed the Italian manufacturer is “planning something really different” for future RS-GP MotoGP™ machines.
It’s safe to say that Aprilia hasn’t seen the results they would have been hoping for this season and Albesiano spoke to the media during Friday’s manufacturer Press Conference, which also included Suzuki and Honda representatives.
The season so far: Aprilia - Rolling with the punches
“Honestly, we have not done the step we are still waiting for,” said Albesiano regarding 2019 results. “With Aleix Espargaro, we are experiencing an average expectation of results. We have 3 DNFs from Aleix, when without those DNFs we would be inside the top ten. With Andrea Iannone, we are still struggling with the rider adaptation and with each other so this is the situation now. We have done a lot of work, the bike has improved a lot engine wise, chassis wise, weight and aerodynamics too.”
Albesiano then discussed what Aprilia have in the pipeline for 2020: “For sure for the future, we are planning something really different from what we have now. We have found the limit to our solution in many areas and we have decided this time to make a really big step for next season.”
