Hopkins on Silverstone: “The new surface is amazing”

Former MotoGP™ rider was in the commentary box in Brno on Friday and spoke about Silverstone's recent resurfacing

Ahead of the GoPro British Grand Prix later this month, Silverstone has undergone a complete resurfacing to solve the issues of last year and speaking to MotoGP™ commentators Steve Day and Matt Birt during FP2, former MotoGP™ rider John Hopkins praised the work that has been done at the Northamptonshire layout.

“The new surface is amazing, I think they’ve done a really good job,” said Hopkins, who was st Silverstone with Ducati UK before heading to the Czech Republic for this weekend’s Czech GP. “I was there with Ducati UK just a couple of days ago and it is great. It is so smooth, there was a torrential rainstorm the day before and there was no standing water after, it was bone dry and I am definitely expecting them to break track records when they get there in a few weeks’ time.”

The MotoGP™ paddock will be at Silverstone from 23-25 August. How will the riders fare on the new surface?
