With two wins to their name this season, most recently at Silverstone, Team Suzuki Ecstar are no doubt a force to be reckoned with, but one disadvantage they have is their lack of top speed.
Speaking to motogp.com’s Matt Birt and Amy Dargan on Thursday at the GP Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, Alex Rins’ crew chief Jose Manuel Cazeaux spoke about how the Hamamatsu factory are trying to extract more power from their 2020 machine, while also finding the balance that makes the Suzuki – arguably – the best bike through the corners.

Pre-GP Press Conference: San Marino GP
“This a good question and it’s always the balance where you have to pay attention. For sure, where the power didn’t allow us to get a better result, was Qatar and Mugello,” said Cazeaux, two places where Suzuki placed fourth twice, under a second from the win – not exactly bad results.
“When Alex looked like he had a bit more speed than the others for the lap time, but he couldn’t escape because when he got to the straight he was overtaken by the other competitors. But at other tracks this isn’t happening so it’s a balance. Our target is to keep this balance, of course improve in terms of top speed as much as possible but without losing those strong points. Also continue to qualify better because if you qualify better, your chances improve a little bit.”
