The Global Series is underway with the 12 finalists contesting the 2019 MotoGP™ eSport Championship taking part in a highly competitive qualifying session at Mugello with the grid for Friday’s first race now decided.

The stakes couldn’t be higher at the first round of the Global Series, which takes place at the #SanMarinoGP. Less than one tenth of a second covered the two fastest gamers, at the close of the 15-minute session. It was close right the way down the leaderboard with the ten fastest riders covered by less than one second. But it was left to AndrewZh, riding for Ducati Team, to set the pace with one minute to play. Team Suzuki ECSTAR’s Cristianmm17 shrugged off an early crash to grab second place with his last flying lap.

Meanwhile Wimp (Red Bull KTM Tech 3) and reigning eSport Champion trastevere73 (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) posted identical times for third. By virtue of his second fastest time being better than trastevere73’s, Wimp will start tomorrow’s race from the front row in third.

There was very little to choose between EleGhosT555 (fifth) and Team Suzuki ECSTAR’s adrianDP26 (sixth), who complete the second row. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Juan_nh16, Aprilia Racing Team Gresini’s Rllorca and LCR Honda’s Moe were seventh, eighth and ninth respectively. Pramac Racing’s Mereja was tenth ahead of MrTftw, who crashed early on, and XxBoMbeR_45xX, who failed to set a valid laptime.

Be sure to tune into the action-packed show today (Friday 13th) at 19:30 Local Time (GMT+2), when experienced presenters Gavin Emmett and Amy Dargan will host the glitzy event with commentary coming from Matt Dunn and Jack Appleyard.

Friday’s action will be available to watch live on motogp.com and esport.motogp.com, MotoGP and MotoGP eSport social media channels and eleven tv broadcasters.
