With three rounds to go before the end of the season in Valencia on November 10, things could get hot at the Circuit of Jerez-Angel Nieto. The classification of the FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship is tight and, in both Moto2™ and the European Talent Cup, their respective leaders could go a long way towards settling the title - especially in the ETC where there will be two races, as in Moto3™.
In the FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship, Jeremy Alcoba (Laglisse Academy) is the overall leader with an 18-point advantage over Barry Baltus (Sama Qatar Angel Nieto Team); Xavier Artigas (Leopard Impala Junior Team) is third on 94 points - 24 points behind Alcoba. Artigas arrives in Jerez full of confidence after getting his first Moto3™ victory in the last round of the FIM CEV Repsol in MotorLand Aragon where Alcoba was second and Davide Pizzoli (Leopard Impala Junior Team) took the remaining podium slot.
FIM CEV Repsol: Moto3™ Junior World Championship Round 5
Yuki Kunii (Asia Talent Team) hasn't yet recovered from injury and will miss the Jerez meeting and with it the chances of challenging for the lead, something which looked possible early on in the season after Valencia. Carlos Tatay (Andreas Perez 77 Foundation), fifth overall, is riding high after being proclaimed champion of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and Ryusei Yamanaka (Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0.0) will also be doing his utmost to get back on the podium and improve his sixth position in the table
Edgar Pons (Baiko Racing Team) occupies a privileged position in the Moto2™ European Championship. The Baiko Racing Team rider has only been off the podium in one of the seven races so far: in the first at MotorLand, although in the second he made up for it with a win. With this consistency, it is not surprising that he leads the category by 45 points over Niki Tuuli (Team Stylo Bike). Héctor Garzó (CNS Motorsport), third and only three points behind Tuuli, will be looking to repeat or improve his performance at MotorLand where he won the first race and was runner-up in the second.
After Jerez, 75 points will remain at stake and Pons could leave the Moto2™ European Championship title almost in the bag for the next FIM CEV Repsol round in Albacete. In Superstock 600, Alessandro Zetti (FAU55 El Señor de las Bolsas) continues as leader of the category with 139 points against the 107 points of Joan Diaz Corbella (DCR Racing Team).
Izan Guevara (Cuna de Campeones) almost has the ETC title sewn up. The leader of the ETC not only has a lead of 58 points over the second classified Fermin Aldeguer (Bester Capital Dubai), but he arrives in Jerez after winning the last five races of this very competitive category.
This Sunday there will be two ETC races, with 50 points at stake; from then there will only be another 50 points left in play, 25 in Albacete and 25 in Valencia. Guevara will have his first opportunity to take the title of champion if Aldeguer, Ivan Ortola (Sama Qatar Angel Nieto Team), (in third, 63 points behind the leader), and others are unable to prevent it.
The schedule for next Sunday’s races is as follows (GMT+2):
Moto3™ Race 1 (16 laps) 11.00
ETC Race 1 (15 laps) 12.00
Moto2™ (17 laps) 13.00
Moto3™ Race 2 (16 laps) 14.00
ETC Race 2 (15 laps) 15.00
