Back on a bike: Italy's MotoGP™ stars hit the dirt

Lockdown restrictions have been eased in Italy meaning Rossi, Dovizioso, Petrucci and more have been able to jump back onto two wheels

Thanks to an easing of lockdown restrictions across the nation, Italy's MotoGP™ stars have at long last been able to get back out on two wheels. After two months of quarantine within their homes, motocross tracks were opened, including Valentino Rossi's (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) Ranch, allowing riders across all three classes the chance to ride for the first time in what must have felt like forever.

Rossi was joined at his ranch by Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT) and brother Luca Marini (SKY Racing Team VR46) as the trio dabbled in some dirt tracking and MX riding. The Doctor saying in an Instagram post: "Returning to the Ranch after a few months was as exciting as the first time!".

Meanwhile, Ducati Team's Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci have been on-track together for the first time since the Qatar Test as the pair joined new Aprilia Test rider Lorenzo Savadori and Moto2™ stars Lorenzo Baldassarri (FlexBox HP40) and Enea Bastianini (Italtrans Racing Team) at the Crossodromo Monte Coralli for some MX action.

Incredibly positive news for all the Italian riders as, more importantly, the situation in their country appears to be improving by the day. Meanwhile, across Spain athletes have recently been allowed out of their homes to train, allowing both Marc and Alex Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) the chance to cycle around Catalonia.
