The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli reopened its doors for the first time since the Covid-19 outbreak began as Michele Pirro (Ducati Team), Enea Bastianini (Italtrans Racing Team), Nicolo Bulega (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2), reigning FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup winner Matteo Ferrari (Trentino Gresini MotoE) and other Italian riders spun some laps on the Riviera di Rimini coast.
In total, 13 riders from across the respective motorcycle racing family tree headed to Misano on a range of machinery as Italy begins to relax their lockdown laws, which includes allowing professional athletes to train daily. It was an exciting day for all, with other familiar names such as Aprilia Racing Team Gresini test rider Lorenzo Savadori and World Championship veteran Mattia Pasini also present.
The use of face masks, sanitary products and social distancing was paramount throughout the day at Misano, which saw the riders give a big thumbs up to the new resurfacing. Sunday sees Misano in action again, but this time it’ll be in Virtual form as Virtual Grand Prix 4 takes place as MotoGP™ is joined by MotoE™ on Sunday the 17th of May.
