The MotoGP™ BMW M Award, which has been in place since 2003, continues this weekend at the Monster Energy Czech Republic Grand Prix as the premier class riders aim to topple Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) from his qualifying perch.
The Frenchman, having taken pole position in both the Spanish and Andalucia Grands Prix, sits on a maximum 50 points. That’s 10 ahead of Yamaha rival Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) who has taken two P2s in qualifying so far in 2020, with Pramac Racing’s Francesco Bagnaia third in the BMW M Award standings after his P4 and P3 starts in Jerez.
The winner of the award at the end of the season will bag a shiny new BMW M2 CS.
Top 5 in the BMW M Awards standings heading into the Czech GP:
1. Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) – 50 points
2. Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) – 40 points
3. Francesco Bagnaia (Pramac Racing) – 29 points
