Navarro sets the pace in Moto2™ FP1 as a tenth splits top 4

It's too close to call in the intermediate class with World Championship contender Luca Marini inside a Speed Up sandwich at the top

MB Conveyors Speed Up's Jorge Navarro took top spot on Friday morning at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana but only by a fraction with the three fastest riders in the Moto2™ class seperated by just 0.087 of a second in FP1.

Navarro was less than half a second adrift of his own outright lap record of the Circuit Ricardo Tormo from one year ago with SKY Racing Team VR46's Luca Marini just 0.025 seconds adrift of the Spaniard's 1:34.855. Making sure two MB Conveyors Speed Up machines were inside the top three was Fabio Di Giannantonio, as the Italian made sure rumours linking him with the vacant Aprilia MotoGP™ seat didn't affect his FP1 work.

EG 0,0 Marc VDS' Sam Lowes was himself only 0.102 seconds away from Navarro as the Briton looks to bounce back from Valencia disappointment last Sunday where he a crash saw him lose his Moto2™ World Championship lead. The first man not to dip beneath the 1:35 barrier was Marcel Schrötter, with the Liqui Moly Intact GP man also rounding out the top five.

New World Championship leader Enea Bastianini (Italtrans Racing Team) was ninth and, ahead of becoming only the fourth rider in history to compete in 300 Grands Prix, Liqui Moly Intact GP's Tom Lüthi took the final spot inside the top ten.
