The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has affected every corner of the earth and MotoGP™’s official charity Two Wheels for Life continues to battle bravely against the virus.

In response to the spread of the virus in Africa, in partnership with Dorna Sports, the charity has launched a campaign to combat the disease using the power of motorcycles. The aim is to raise enough funds to ensure motorcycle couriers can access hard to reach communities with test results, health education, vaccines, and contact tracing in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and other deadly diseases.

The charity has not been immune to the effects of the virus either, having to search for non-traditional methods of fundraising in order to aid their efforts due to the cancellation of spectator racing. Finding new ways of driving donations such as the ‘Lockdown Takeover’ series on Instagram which hosted presenters and guests including Two Wheels for Life co-founder Randy Mamola, current riders Danilo Petrucci (KTM Tech3 Factory Racing), Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT), Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) and more well-known names from the MotoGP™ family, including the journalists and photographers in the sport.

The funds raised have supported the transformation of lives in Lesotho, Malawi, The Gambia and Nigeria. In 2020 they assisted in providing ambulances and motorcycles as well as technological upgrades and upskill training to communities across the continent.

However, the danger is not over. Already stretched health services have been further weakened by the pandemic and Africa’s population is extremely vulnerable. When vaccines become available in Africa, Two Wheels for Life will ensure that governments and health agencies can reach people in rural areas along with the care, education and health services needed to ensure people do not suffer unnecessarily due to lack of transport.

Join the fight now and together we can show that Two Wheels save lives. You can join bikers and MotoGP™ fans worldwide and donate HERE! Thank you.
