After four weeks of intense competition, the results are in! Four Online Challenges put the varied skillsets of MotoGP™ eSport hopefuls to the test, and 22 names have made it through to the next round.
A total of 16 names from the European ranking plus 6 from the Rest of the World category (as well as the three winners from last year’s Rising Stars Series) have qualified for the Pro Draft Selection, which determines which rider will compete for which MotoGP™ team in the Global Series.
Overall, this year’s Online Challenges showed a host of experienced names from previous years, as well as a host of new, young challengers, keen to upset the status quo.
The results are in! The final Pro Draft standings
If the Pro Draft is anything to go by then Riky will enter the Global Series as one of the favourites to lift the crown after topping the European standings. The young hopeful scored an impressive 95 points from a possible 100. The same could be said of PieroRicciuti55_, who placed second overall with 86 points. Then came the 2019 champion AndrewZh (85 points) and reigning champion Adriaan_26 (82 points) with JulitoCampeonl5 fifth (81 points).
Former Global Series podium finisher Juan_nh16 (81) was sixth ahead of Markel_gp10 (77 points), double MotoGP™ eSport champion trastevere73 (71 points), Jack Hammer4658 (65 points) and DarkBright94 (53 points).
With regards to the Rest of the World standings, two of last year’s Global Series finalists – MrTftw and Sanshoqueen – dominated proceedings by scoring maximum points from the available haul, taking 25 apiece in each of the four challenges.
Previous Global Series competitors FooXz and moe were also in the top six, with the Brazilian finishing third overall with 90 points, and the Indonesian was fifth with 80. Both should be considered challengers to appear in the Global Series again.
There, they will be joined by the winners of the three individual heats of the WINDTRE Rising Stars Series in 2020. Vindex813 from Italy was the winner of the European and African final, while AKI2X from Indonesia won the Asia and Oceania heat and Brazilian Gusta the American final.
As the first stage of the 2021 MotoGP™ eSport Championship has drawn to a close, the next one – the Draft Selection – begins. With 25 names to draw from, the eleven MotoGP™ teams will now preside over their options before choosing their contender.
