Bastianini ready to make his mark in MotoGP™ at Jerez

The Italian says he's confident of competing at the sharp end after another incredible performance at Portimao

One of the performers of the season so far has been MotoGP™ rookie Enea Bastianini. Throughout all the chaos of the opening three rounds of 2021, the Italian has quietly gone about his business to currently sit ninth in the MotoGP™ World Championship and top of the Rookie of the Year standings.

A top ten on debut in Qatar followed up with an 11th place finish at the Doha GP and then a career-best result of ninth at Portimao, the Moto2™ World Champion has adapted brilliantly to the premier class. Even more impressive is the fact he's been able to gain a stunning 19 places from Saturday to Sunday in the space of just three rounds.

Now, the 23-year-old is confident of taking it to the top guys in Jerez. The famous circuit is the scene of his debut intermediate class victory less than 12 months ago and he's fully motivated to create some more career-defining moments in Andalucia.

"I had the opportunity to study the other riders, I arrived late, but I made it," started the Avintia Esponsorama rider. "On the last lap, I was the fastest on the grid. I have been able to race the bike in the right way, avoiding movement, and achieved the best result of the season so far. I am very satisfied with the work we have done. We are heading to Jerez convinced of our potential and knowing that we can be in the first positions."
