2021 MotoGP™ provisional calendar updated

Two races in Austria will now take place at the beginning of August after the Grand Prix of Finland was cancelled

Tags MotoGP, 2021

The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports can now reveal an updated calendar for the 2021 FIM MotoGP™ World Championship. The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, as well as resulting travel complications to Finland, have obliged the cancellation of the 2021 Finnish Grand Prix.

In addition, the FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports are thrilled to announce the Michelin® Grand Prix of Styria will be added to the 2021 calendar. The event will take place at the Red Bull Ring from the 6th to the 8th of August, the weekend preceding the Austrian Grand Prix.

Therefore, following upcoming races in Italy, Catalunya, Germany and Netherlands, the premier class paddock will begin their summer break two weeks earlier than originally scheduled. However, MotoGP™ will return to action a week earlier now with a double-header in Austria, before then travelling to Great Britain, Aragon and San Marino, Then, it will be time for the flyaway races in October – starting with Japan and ending with Malaysia, with Valencia then hosting the season finale from the 12th to the 14th of November.

The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and resulting lockdowns and complications sadly mean both the Argentina GP and the Americas GP currently remain postponed until the last quarter of 2021, with the Mandalika International Street Circuit in Indonesia being placed as a reserve Grand Prix venue, subject to homologation.

Any further updates or changes will be provided as soon as available.
