MotoGP™ flair for Austria’s new race series

The Austrian Junior Cup will run at the Styrian Grand Prix together with the Northern Talent Cup as a support race of the premier class

The Road to MotoGP™ is becoming a reality: Austria's junior motorcycle racers will get the unique chance to fight for victory in the unique setting of the Motorcycle World Championship. At the first of two MotoGP™ events at the Red Bull Ring this summer, the Austrian Junior Cup will host two championship races. The races will be held in conjunction with the Northern Talent Cup, which, like the AJC, will be run exclusively on the KTM RC4R. However, the Austrian series will be classified separately.

On the career ladder of the young riders, the race in the MotoGP™ will mark a milestone in their budding careers. 20 boys and girls and their sponsors will be able to present themselves to a broad public in front of the MotoGP™ stars, teams and manufacturers. Further details on the exact schedule will be announced in the coming weeks. The event is the fourth stop in the premiere season for the junior motorcycle racing series of KTM, AMF and Projekt Spielberg.

Chris Schipper, Managing Director KTM Österreich: "With another two MotoGP events in Austria, the Red Bull Ring sends a strong and positive signal for a motivated take-off after a rather strange time. The fact that we get the chance to compete in the MotoGP supporting program in what is just the first year of the Austrian Junior Cup's existence is almost unbelievable! We are happy for the domestic talents, who are our pride and joy and whom we are very happy to accompany professionally. The confidence in local fans on site motivates us even more!"

Andy Meklau, Riding Coach Austrian Junior Cup and Clerk of the Course Red Bull Ring: "For our youngsters, this appearance is an absolute highlight – getting a taste of MotoGP air and doing the laps themselves out in exactly the same place where the stars have also just raced. For any motorcycle racer with ambitions, it’s a motivational boost that's incomparable."

Rene Binna und Christoph Gerlach, Organizer BG Sportpromotion GmbH: "There is no better way than to show the thought of the AJC and the Dorna program 'Road to MotoGP' within this event. In addition to the challenge, it's a huge opportunity for our participants because in addition to the AJC, the NTC, Red Bull Rookies Cup and all the World Championship classes from Moto3 to MotoGP will also be represented. Thus, our riders can present themselves on an international stage. A big thank you also to everyone who made this highlight possible!"
