The Japanese rookie kickstarts his weekend on top with Elf Marc VDS’ Fernandez in hot pursuit

Rookie Ai Ogura (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) set the pace in Moto2™ FP1 at the Bitci Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich thanks to a 1:28.887 lap time, enough to edge out second fastest Augusto Fernandez (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) by just 0.007s. Marcel Schrötter (Liqui Moly Intact GP) was just over a tenth off Ogura’s pace in P3.

Styrian GP winner Marco Bezzecchi (SKY Racing Team VR46) was fourth quickest on a sunny Friday morning at the Red Bull Ring, with Italtrans Racing Team’s Lorenzo Dalla Porta going well again to claim a top five in FP1.

Cameron Beaubier (American Racing) crashed on the exit of Turn 1 unhurt.
