Aegerter takes Friday's MotoE™ honours

The Swiss rider pulled out an impressive fourth sector to knock Fermin Aldeguer off top spot with Eric Granado in P3

Dominique Aegerter (Dynavolt Intact GP) has finished MotoE™ Friday Free Practice fastest after a 1:25.697 was enough to deny rookie Fermin Aldeguer (OpenBank Aspar Team) by just 0.010s. Eric Granado (One Energy Racing) rounds out the top three for the day at the Bitci Motorrad Grand Prix of Austria.

In a closely fought contest, Aegerter upped his game in the fourth and final sector to find an extra hundredth to give him the edge over his rivals going into Saturday morning’s FP3 session. Aldeguer had occupied top spot on the timesheets for the majority of the session, with the 16-year-old initially moving two-tenths clear of his rivals after his fourth lap, only to lose out to his Swiss counterpart in the closing stages. Granado, who topped the morning session, remains in contention and is just 0.190s off the top.

Matteo Ferrari (Indonesian E-Racing Gresini MotoE) rode well through both sessions and currently occupies P4, with Lukas Tulovic (Tech 3 E-Racing) rounding out the top five times on the combined timesheets.

It’s been a difficult Friday for reigning Cup Champion Jordi Torres (HP Pons 40) with the Spaniard failing to threaten the top of the timesheets so far, recording back-to-back P7s. Current Cup leader Alessandro Zaccone hit the deck during FP1 and was unable to find significant improvements in the afternoon. He, and the other riders in the electric class, will have one last chance to impress ahead of E-Pole on Saturday, with MotoE™ FP3 underway at 08:15 (CET) on Saturday.
