Öncü, Holgado to form Red Bull KTM Tech3 Moto3™ team in 2022

Red Bull KTM Tech3 have announced their Moto3™ line-up for the upcoming season; Deniz Öncü will remain for a third year in Moto3™, while the squad welcomes Daniel Holgado, who will compete his first season in the lightweight class.

Öncü started the Moto3™ adventure together with Tech3 in 2020. Yet, he already claimed his first three podiums in what is just his second year in 2021. After the Turkish youngster was gradually improving, he is now a consistent top contender in the hard-fought category. Thereby, the 18 years old rider aims to continue his fight for the top next season.

Holgado, who actually leads the FIM Junior World Championship and concluded the 2021 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in third, will make his debut in the Moto3 World Championship in 2022. With just 16 years of age, the young Spanish talent targets to learn quick throughout his rookie campaign and will be supported by the experienced Red Bull KTM Tech3 crew.

Deniz Öncü: “I’m very happy to state that I will continue with Red Bull KTM Tech3 in 2022. I’m really thankful to Kenan (Sofuoglu, Manager), to the entire team and obviously to Red Bull and KTM, because they all give me an incredible support. I always get everything I need. This season, we showed a huge improvement, fighting for podiums in nearly each race and missing out on a first win a couple of times just by a whisker. However, we already celebrated some podiums and one pole position. I believe that we can get our first victory before the end of this season and I’m sure we can do a lot more next year within this fantastic family.”

Daniel Holgado: “I am very happy about this opportunity and really thankful to the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team, the whole KTM group, to Red Bull and obviously to my family. I hope we can enjoy this first year in the World Championship with this great crew. Thanks to Neox Mangament and everyone who helped me to arrive here. I’m incredibly proud and can’t wait to start this new adventure!”

Hervé Poncharal - Team Manager: “Finally, I’m very proud and happy to announce the line-up of our Red Bull KTM Tech3 team for the 2022 season. First of all, it’s great news, that we managed to secure Deniz Öncü for one more season with us in Moto3. He made an incredible progress this season and he was very close to win his first race twice. He still secured three podiums so far and we are clearly very proud of what he has been doing until now. So, it’s a great honour having him with us for 2022. I want to thank Deniz and Kenan for their trust and of course I want to thank KTM and Red Bull for being behind Tech3 to build up that strong project in Moto3.

“On the other side of our garage in 2022, we will have a new face, Daniel Holgado, who is currently leading the FIM Junior World Championship. He is clearly one of the fastest young talents emerging from both, the FIM Junior World Championship and the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. We are very glad and proud to welcome him next to Deniz. It will be interesting to guide him in his first Moto3 World Championship season. We spent some time with him already and I’m quite sure he will fit very well in the team and he will bring the results we are all expecting from him. His mission will be to fight for the Rookie of the Year title in 2022.
