Congratulations Fabio! Messages flood in for the Champion

From his rivals to sports and politics, there has been plenty of congratulations coming in for France's hero

Ever since Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) crossed the line P4 at the Gran Premio Nolan del Made in Italy e dell'Emilia-Romagna, realising he’d achieved his dream of becoming MotoGP™ World Champion, the congratulations have been flooding in from all walks of life.

The motorcycling world doffs its hat to Quartararo

Of course, Quartararo’s racing peers have been sending their congratulations to the new MotoGP™ King, including former premier class title winners Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar), Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) and Jorge Lorenzo, as well as his rivals, teammates or friends on track in 2021, such as Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar), Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing), Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini), Yamaha test rider Cal Crutchlow, Tony Arbolino (Liqui Moly Intact GP), compatriot Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing) and another French rider who will be back in WorldSBK next season: Loris Baz. The French GP, Monster Energy, his former team Leopard Racing, have also congratulated Quartararo.

Teams such as Ducati Corse, Team Suzuki Ecstar and Repsol Honda Team took to Twitter to offer their compliments to the new World Champion.

But the vast majority hailed Quartararo’s season on their Instagram stories, such as Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team), Alex Marquez (LCR Honda Castrol), Iker Lecuona (Tech3 KTM Factory Racing), Albert Arenas (Aspar Team Moto2 ), Raul Fernandez (Red Bull KTM Ajo), Dennis Foggia (Leopard Racing), Dani Pedrosa, Sylvain Guintoli, Alex Criville, Toprak Razgatlıoğlu (Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK), Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) and Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK), who was his teammate in the 2016 Moto3™ World Championship.

Other big names in motorsport congratulate El Diablo

It goes without saying that Quartararo’s title win caught the eyes far beyond our two-wheel friends. The likes of Sir Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Carlos Sainz Jr and F1’s first French World Champion Alain Prost were quick to congratulate Quartararo either on their stories or by post, as well as Sebastien Loeb, Dani Sordo, Thierry Neuville, Marvin Musquin, and Grasse Theo Pourchaire.

Personalities in sport, music, cinema and politics

Quartararo’s feat was applauded by swimmer Camille Lacourt and pole vault professional Renaud Lavillenie, both motorcycle enthusiasts, as well as footballers Sergio Ramos, Kylian Mbappe and Clement Grenier. French football clubs OGC Nice and PSG dedicated Tweets to their compatriot.

French actor Tarek Boudali and French singer-songwriter Matt Pokora shared stories about Quartararo, while homages have also been paid by the city of Nice, the former motorcycle rider turned Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi, the Minister Delegate in charge of sports Roxana Maracineanu and by French President Emmanuel Macron.
