Gardner quickest from teammate and rival Raul Fernandez

It’s a Red Bull KTM Ajo 1-2 to start proceedings in Moto2™ at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve

World Championship leader Remy Gardner (Red Bull KTM Ajo) has his first 2021 Moto2™ match point at the Grande Prémio Brembo do Algarve, and the Australian kicked his weekend off by beating title rival and teammate Raul Fernandez by 0.014s. Gardner set a 1:43.667 to see him sit 0.131s quicker than third fastest Aron Canet (Quierocorredor Aspar Team).

Celestino Vietti (SKY Racing Team VR46), fresh from his best Moto2™ finish last time out at Misano, finished P4 on Friday morning, with Hector Garzo (Flexbox HP40) grabbing P5 on his final lap. Early into FP1, Augusto Fernandez (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) and Ai Ogura (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) crashed at Turn 1, thankfully both riders were ok.

The Moto2™ riders will be back on track for FP2 at 15:10 local time (GMT+0) – tune in!
