After the opening weekend in Qatar, the MotoGP™ paddock stayed for a second helping at the Losail International Circuit for Round 2. And just like seven days previous, the Doha Grand Prix certainly didn’t disappoint.
Rookie Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing) stole the headlines on Saturday after securing a sensational maiden MotoGP™ pole position. Many thought the Spaniard would slip back down the order in Sunday’s race, with the more experienced guard right behind Martin on the grid – but how wrong would that prove to be.
Martin got a wonderful start and led for the majority of the race. It wasn’t until Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) passed Martin with five laps to go where a change of the lead occurred. Quartararo eventually made his race-winning pass stick with four laps left, as Johann Zarco nabbed second off Pramac Racing teammate Martin on the final lap. It was yet another spellbinding MotoGP™ battle.
