2021 MotoGP™ recap: Algarve Grand Prix

It was a weekend that saw Ducati crowned Constructors’ Champion, as well as Acosta securing the Moto3™ title

After Fabio Quartararo's (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) historic crowning at Misano, the paddock returned to Portimao’s rollercoaster for the Algarve Grand Prix. But it wasn’t a successful weekend at the office for the new World Champion.

Starting from pole, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) was able to hand himself his third win of the season. Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar) and Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team) completed the penultimate podium of the season, as the latter fended off a flying Alex Marquez (LCR Honda Castrol). As well as the double podium, it was a day of great celebration for Ducati, as they wrapped up the Constructors’ crown in Portimao.

The spotlight wasn’t just on the MotoGP™ riders though. Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) won to become Moto3™ World Champion in his rookie season, while Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2™ teammates Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez went head-to-head for victory. The win for Gardner saw him take a healthy advantage into Valencia’s season finale.
