After setting the fastest lap time during the three-day Sepang Shakedown Test, Maverick Viñales was back on track in Malaysia as the Spaniard and Test Rider Lorenzo Savadori completed a private test for Aprilia Racing.
Savadori was testing both the 2022 and 2021 bike, whereas Viñales had two 2022 spec bikes in his side of the garage. Aleix Espargaro decided to sit out the private test day, choosing to recover from the Shakedown in order to be fully fit for the two-day Official Sepang Test.
Aprilia Racing Technical Director, Romano Albesiano, has revealed that the 2022 RS-GP is a completely new bike. The air intake, wings, front fairing, chassis, exhaust, and engine have been updated. It’s definitely something to look out for during pre-season testing, and it will be interesting to hear from both Viñales and Espargaro about the new machine.
