Conditions improving as Mandalika Test gets going

Day 1 of the Mandalika Test has been affected by a red flag stoppage but the times are starting to tumble

Day 1 of the Official MotoGP™ Mandalika Test is underway and fastest at midday is Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) with a 1:37.788. Track conditions are continuing to improve and the times are tumbling, as the riders get to grips with Indonesia's new layout.

The red flags were shown during the morning because of track conditions, meaning there was a delay in proceedings as a clean up operation got underway. Action has been fairly limited so far, but 45 minutes has been added onto the clock for today to allow the riders to make up for lost time. Every rider, bar Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing), has now ventured out and had a first taste of what the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit has to offer.

Before 15:00 local time, the riders have been told to complete around 20 laps each to see how the track conditions are evolving. If they deem the circuit to be too dirty after they’ve finished their latest set of runs, there’s a possibility that proceedings will be stopped so the track can be cleaned fully for Saturday and Sunday’s test days. Stay tuned to motogp.com and MotoGP™’s social media channels for the latest.

The schedule change means After the Flag will now start at 10:15 CET (17:15 local time).
