43 and going strong: Rossi celebrates birthday with GT Test

The day before his birthday, The Doctor was in Magny-Cours ramping up preparations for his World Challenge Europe racing debut

Despite his retirement last year, there are no signs of Valentino Rossi slowing down. After 26 seasons on the World Championship circuit, The Doctor left MotoGP™ behind to embark on the next chapter of his career; the GT World Challenge Europe.

And on Tuesday, one day before his 43rd birthday, he was with his new team at Magny-Cours taking part in a test ahead of his racing debut with Team WRT in Imola during April. Behind the wheel of an Audi R8, it was the second chance Rossi had to get to grips with four-wheeled racing after a test in December at Valencia.

Seeing the MotoGP™ Legend on track is an exciting prospect, and we’ll certainly be keeping a keen eye on his progress over the season. Rossi may no longer be part of the MotoGP™ grid anymore, but his legacy most definitely lives on. Two premier class riders don the VR46 moniker, with four more in Moto2™, and many more who have come through the Italian’s academy.

His influence on the sport has reached far and wide, and on the day he turns 43, what better way to celebrate his birthday than by watching the stories that made him an icon?
