Sunday’s MotoGP™ race at the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia has been reduced to 20 laps, down from the originally scheduled 27. Race Direction’s concerns regarding the weather conditions meant that they were forced into the decision.
"We’ve decided to reduce the race distance on safety grounds as a result of high temperatures," said FIM Grand Prix Safety Officer Franco Uncini. "We’ve decided to reduce the race distance to preserve the track conditions because of the asphalt," Race Direction added.
It follows in the steps taken for the Moto2™ race, which was also reduced to two-thirds distance. Despite the shortened race, it’s all set to be a cracker at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, with lights out for the premier class at 08:00 local time.
