Nakagami lays down podium claim by taking Warm Up top spot

The Japanese rider has finished fourth on his last two visits to Jerez - can he go one better today?

LCR Idemitsu Honda's Takaaki Nakagami was fastest in Sunday morning's Warm Up at the Red Bull Spanish Grand Prix, as the Japanese rider staked a claim for a debut MotoGP™ podium later. Behind the number 30 was Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team).

After finishing fourth on his last two visits to Jerez, the LCR man will be aiming to go one better later today and a 1:37.442 on old mediums will give him a boost of confidence. Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) was fourth tenths shy of his Honda counterpart in sixth, ahead of Team Suzuki Ecstar's Joan Mir and teammate Pol Espargaro. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Franco Morbidelli and Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) rounded out the top ten.
