Pons duo locks out top two in MotoE™ FP1 in France

Casadei with early bragging rights over team-mate Torres, and Torres with bragging rights over the rest of the MotoE™ field after FP1

Pons Racing 40 duo Mattia Casadei and Jordi Torres have set the pace in FP1 for the second round of the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup at the SHARK Grand Prix de France. In the opening, 20-minute session of the weekend at Le Mans, Casadei clocked a 1:45.864 while Torres was just 0.036 seconds slower at the end of the session.

As expected, times tumbled throughout the cold, Friday morning session, with Casadei and Torres both setting their respective fastest laps with the chequered flag out. Miquel Pons, of the LCR E-Team, did likewise with a 1:46.086 which left him third on the timesheet. Rounding out the top five were Xavi Fores (Octo Pramac MotoE™) and Eric Granado (LCR E-Team), who leads the World Cup after winning both races at Jerez a fortnight ago.

Inaugural World Cup winner Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE™) ended up 14th, while Andrea Mantovani (WithU GRT RNF MotoE™ Team) did not set a lap time.

The MotoE™ field is back on track for FP2 today at 12:35 (GMT +2), when the starting order for Q1 and Q2 will be decided.
