Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo currently leads the timesheets halfway through the Catalunya Test thanks to his 1:39.447 set in the opening hours of the session. The Frenchman sits 0.053 seconds clear of compatriot Johann Zarco (Prima Pramac Racing), with Aprilia Racing's Aleix Espargaro a further tenth adrift in third.
Fourth fastest and looking to bounce back after a problem-hit Catalan Grand Prix is Repsol Honda's Pol Espargaro. The Spaniard's 1:39.688 has him a quarter of a second behind Quartararo with four hours remaining at the Circuit de Barcelona - Catalunya. Ducati Lenovo Team's Francesco Bagnaia and Jack Miller are fifth and sixth, ahead of Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) and Franco Morbidelli (Monster Energy Yamaha) in seventh and eighth. Completing the top ten at the halfway stage is the Gresini duo of Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
When it comes to technical innovations we've seen so far, all six factories have rolled something new out of pit lane. Firstly, Quartararo has been switching between the aluminium swingarm he won Sunday's race with and the one he started the season with. His teammate Morbidelli, meanwhile, has been working on a carbon variation. WithU Yamaha RNF's Andrea Dovizioso is also working on the updated aluminium swingarm.
Aprilia are arguably the most interesting factory. They've worked again on the rear wing first seen in Mugello, tested an updated aero package but also revealed a radically different side fairings. Ducati have also been hard at work with Zarco testing a fully revamped chassis. We've also spotted Bagnaia testing an updated aerodynamics package.
KTM are hard at work with three bikes in Miguel Olivera's garage. Brad Binder, meanwhile, has been playing with a new swingarm pivot. Suzuki have got two different aero packages for Joan Mir to try during the day. Finally, Honda have three different chassis on show as they continue to work on the new RC213V.
Another four hours of testing is to come, so stay tuned to MotoGP.com for full analysis and reaction later today once the chequered flag flies at the Catalunya Test.
