Quartararo's 16,749 owners left disappointed in Assen

A first DNF of the season for the Championship leader saw plenty of players lose crucial points – but most popular pick Pecco delivered

It’s been a busy few weeks for MotoGP™ Fantasy players and in Assen, there would have been plenty of mixed emotions as the second most popular rider in the game – Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) – suffered his first DNF of the season.

In fact, the World Championship leader was transferred in by 1336 Fantasy players. That meant a total of 16,749 players would have been left disappointed when Quartararo crashed twice during a dramatic Dutch TT. To add to some players’ misery, El Diablo was the most turbo-boosted rider at the Motul TT Assen – a day to forget, then, for some.

The ideal team for the Dutch TT looked like this:

Gold – Francesco Bagnaia (35 points)
Gold – Maverick Viñales (32)
Constructor – Ducati (33)
Silver – Marco Bezzecchi (31)
Silver – Brad Binder (27)

After suffering three DNFs in the previous four races, Pecco rewarded his 17,084 owners with a much-needed victory and healthy haul of Fantasy points. However, 1,515 players decided to dump Pecco out of their teams for Assen, a decision that ultimately cost those unlucky few.

Viñales was the second most traded in rider before Saturday’s deadline in the Netherlands, and the Spaniard’s 1863 new owners were treated to 32 points after the number 12 claimed his first podium with Aprilia. His price will be rising before Silverstone, and that’s a track he also loves… Top Gun is certainly one to keep a close eye on.

Heading into the summer break, Pecco and Quartararo are – understandably – the most picked riders in the game. If you have both, you’re doing very well given their prices. Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) is also proving popular with the third highest tally of player picks, with Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) and Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) boasting over 15,000 owners.

Quartararo leads the way in the Fantasy standings as well as the real-life standings. His 295 points are 41 clear of Pecco, with the Frenchman also the only rider in the $5m bracket ($5.1m) – in other words, expensive if you don’t yet own, and potentially tricky to get to.

The British GP is up next at the beginning of August, so don’t go making any moves for Silverstone yet!
