The 2022 MotoGP™ season kicked off with a bang at the Qatar GP. Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) took top step glory for the first time in his premier class career, and the first Gresini rider to do so since Toni Elias in 2006, sparking emotional scenes in the box post-race.
‘The Beast’ announced himself on the world stage in stunning fashion, pouncing late on to take the win ahead of Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and long-time race leader Pol Espargaro (Repsol Honda Team).
After going through the toughest of times, there was hardly a dry eye in the paddock as Bastianini celebrated his victory with Team Principal Nadia Padovani, the widow of Fausto Gresini, who founded the team following his retirement from racing.
Despite the unbridled joy, things weren’t so rosy across the other Ducati garages as Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) crashed out and took poleman Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) with him, while Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team) also failed to see the chequered flag.

It was a night to remember too for the Binder family, with Darryn Binder (WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP™ Team) making his debut in MotoGP™ while elder brother Brad defied expectations to get his KTM onto the podium at their bogey track.
The Qatar GP, as is so often the case, was an unforgettable event and the perfect way to start the new season.
