Bastianini beats the Aprilias in FP4

A late flying lap put the Ducati rider on top in the last session before qualifying

Gresini Racing MotoGP™ rider Enea Bastianini has gone quickest in FP4 at the Gran Premio Gryfyn di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini. The Ducati pilot set a 1:32.295 with the chequered flag out to deny Aprilia Racing a one-two in the half-hour session which leads into qualifying at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. Bastianini’s time came at the end of a single run on what began as a new soft Michelin slick at the front and a medium at the rear, whereas Maverick Viñales clocked his personal-best 1:32.331 with a front tyre which had by then done 22 laps, and a rear which had 14 laps on it. Aleix Espargaro rounded out a top three covered by 0.124 seconds with a 1:32.419 on the other Aprilia RS-GP in the field.

World Championship leader Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) claimed fourth on a 1:32.438, with Francesco Bagnaia fifth on a 1:32.547 and his fellow Ducati Lenovo Team rider Jack Miller, who was quickest in FP3, taking 12th on a 1:32.820. Despite rain flags flying at the start of the session, riders ran on slicks throughout and Miller’s excursion through the gravel was a rare mishap through the field until Joan Mir’s injury replacement at Team Suzuki Ecstar, Kazuki Watanabe, had a crash at Turn 15 in the final five minutes which pulled the seat unit off his GSX-RR – rider okay.
