Three rounds and six races in and the Global Series has already delivered its fair share of excitement. Now the fourth of five rounds is coming up, with two all-important races on Friday, September 23rd at 12.00 (GMT +9).
The second race of the fourth round of the 2022 MotoGP™ Global Series will see challengers from around the world compete at Japan’s Mobility Resort Motegi, a venue with a spectacular setting!
Japan is the home to MotoGP™ powerhouses Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki - this makes it one of the biggest manufacturers of motorcycles in the world. The country has a rich motorcycle racing heritage and Motegi Twin Ring Circuit has been a permanent fixture on the MotoGP™ calendar since it first hosted a race in 1999.
The very first Japanese Grand Prix was held back in 1963 at the Suzuka circuit, with 40 Grand Prix taking place in the Land of the Rising Sun by 2017.
Located amongst the vast natural beauty of the northern Kanto district, the Mobility Resort Motegi in Japan consists of a 1.5 mile oval and a 2.9 mile road course constructed to international standards. Built by Honda as the ultimate test facility in August 1997, the road circuit became home to MotoGP in 1999 whilst the oval is designed to introduce American motorsports culture to the country.
It’s a track that tests braking ability like no other – stopping your bike from high speed is key to a fast lap time here, with heavy braking zones seen at turns one, three, five, ten and eleven. Ensuring the bike accelerates in punchy fashion is also of the upmost importance around this layout.
