Guevara edges Moreira on Friday morning at Valencia

This year’s Moto3™ World Champion Izan Guevara (Valresa GASGAS Aspar Team) has clocked the fastest lap in FP1 for Round 20 of the Moto3™ World Championship at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana. The Valresa GASGAS Aspar Team rider clocked a 1:39.533 on his last lap of the session at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, beating Diogo Moreira (MT Helmets - MSI) by 0.010 seconds. Dennis Foggia (Leopard Racing), who is locked in a battle with Guevara’s teammate Sergio Garcia for second in the World Championship, did also set a 1:39.533 but that was chalked off having been set while transiting a yellow flag zone.

Said yellow flag may well have been that caused by a crash at Turn 6 for Moreira, who is under investigation given marshals and David Muñoz were still walking away from the scene after the BOE Motorsports pilot had a spill of his own. Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Ajo) would be classified third on a 1:39.683 and Ayumu Sasaki (Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max), who is an outside chance of claiming second in the standings, fourth on a 1:39.715, with Foggia sixth on a 1:39.780, and Garcia (Valresa GASGAS Aspar Team) eighth on a 1:39.855.

The Moto3™ field is back on-track for FP2 later this Friday at 13:15 (GMT +1)!
