"Is he with me or against me?" – Tensions rise in Sepang

Get a behind-the-scenes look at what a frustrated Bagnaia said after a dramatic 2022 Malaysian GP FP3 in ‘There Can Be Only One’

Let’s set the scene. It’s FP3 at the 2022 Malaysian GP and World Championship leader Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) needs to find an improved lap time to get into the automatic Q2 places.

However, after catching cruising riders and then suffering a crash while shadowing rival Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™), Bagnaia is staring down the barrel of a Q1 battle. In ‘There Can Be Only One’, our cameras pick up the aftermath in the factory Ducati box as Pecco arrives back after his tumble.

“Morbidelli, Quartararo, Bezzecchi and Fernandez in the middle of the track… in FP3!” Bagnaia, with the tension and stakes so high in Malaysia, is understandably fuming. Ducati Corse General Manager, Gigi Dall’Igna, tries to calm the Italian down ahead of a crucial afternoon.

We then see Bagnaia question Enea Bastianini’s (Ducati Lenovo Team) motives: “And Bastianini, is he with me or against me, what’s he doing?” The documentary captures the pressure cooker that fighting for your first premier class title causes, and it makes for compelling viewing for fans who don’t normally get to hear the conversations that take place just after a session.
