Oliveira travelling to Austin ahead of Thursday medical test

The Portuguese star is set to return to action at the Americas GP if he passes a medical test after picking up an unlucky Round 1 injury

CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP™ Team’s Miguel Oliveira is set to return to action at this weekend’s Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas, pending a medical test being passed on Thursday at the circuit.

The Portuguese rider picked up tendon damage in his right leg after being collected by Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) in the early Portuguese GP incident that also involved Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) while all three riders were battling for the podium positions. As a result, Oliveira was forced to sit out the Argentina GP after being declared unfit after the crash.

However, less than three weeks on from the incident, Oliveira is travelling to Austin in the hope that he passes the medical test on Thursday, before getting back on his Aprilia RS-GP after a very promising opening round of the season in Portimao.

“I’m obviously excited to start the trip to the US. It was a shame for me to have missed the Argentina GP, but I’m really looking forward to start again working with the team and discover the bike again on this track,” said Oliveira.

“It has not been an easy track for me in the past, so I hope that this year I can start turning things around and start the weekend strong. To score points in both the Sprint and the main race would be really nice and of course important after not being able to do anything the last three opportunities basically. So, overall, I’m very excited.”
