Razgatlioglu ruled out of 2024 MotoGP™ move after BMW switch

The Turk and Yamaha will part ways at the end of 2023, with the 2021 WorldSBK Champion joining BMW's factory squad next season

It’s been one of the most talked about possibilities on the MotoGP™ rumour mill over the last couple of years: will Toprak Razgatlioglu make the jump to MotoGP™ from WorldSBK? And if so, when?

Having taken part in two private tests on board Yamaha’s YZR-M1 in 2022 and April this year, the talk about a potential switch for the Turkish star naturally gathered pace in recent weeks.

Yamaha’s Managing Director, Lin Jarvis, spoke to motogp.com in-depth about Razgatlioglu’s test and potential MotoGP™ future back at the Americas GP, admitting that the #54 was a potential candidate for the factory seat alongside Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) if Yamaha decided to not renew with Franco Morbidelli.

However, the questions surrounding Razgatlioglu’s immediate future have been answered – and those answers don’t involve MotoGP™.

In an announcement before Round 5 of the WorldSBK campaign, it was confirmed the 2021 WorldSBK Champion and Yamaha would be parting ways at the end of the 2023 season. A few hours later, it was established that he would join BMW’s factory effort in WorldSBK for the 2024 season, thus ending speculation about Razgatlioglu’s future.
