Alex Marquez declared unfit after Q1 crash

The Gresini rider has suffered a double rib fracture and has been taken to hospital for further checks

Gresini Racing's Alex Marquez has been declared unfit for the IndianOil Grand Prix of India following a heavy crash at the end of Q1 on Saturday morning. The #73 had posted a time good enough to get into Q2, but did not participate in the battle for pole position due to the injuries sustained from the incident.

Having already visited the medical centre at the track, Marquez was then taken to hospital for further checks, with his team confirming he had suffered a triple rib fracture on his left side. We wish Alex a speedy recovery, and we will bring you further updates of his condition as they are made available.
