Martin in Ducati red deemed as a "reality to consider" by Sporting Director Ciabatti

Paolo Ciabatti has admitted Ducati Corse cannot ignore the current form of the Spaniard

Jorge Martin's (Pramac Racing) recent form has been impossible to ignore in the 2nd half of the 2023 season. After failing to be promoted to the official team at the end of the 2022 season, the Spaniard now finds himself well in contention for the 2023 title as only 13 points currently separate him from the leader Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team).

As to be expected the 'Martinator's' recent performances have not gone unnoticed.  Although Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) has a factory contract for 2024, rumours about a possible exchange between the Italian and the Spaniard have begun to gain strength. Martin himself admitted during the press conference prior to the Malaysian GP that he would be "super happy" with that move.

Furthermore, in an interview with our pitlane reporter, Jack Appleyard, Ducati Corse Sporting Paolo Ciabatti, also spoke on the matter: "As everyone knows, we confirmed Enea for the official team at end of August," he began.

However, the Italian declared that he could not ignore the current form of the Spaniard and left room for doubt: "It’s true with Martin’s current level of performance it’s a reality we should consider but no decision taken obviously, but let’s see. We cannot ignore this level of performance."

After just one season in the official Ducati team, plagued by injuries, could Enea Bastianini be replaced by Jorge Martin? Stay tuned to motogp.com!
