Shahrol Yuzy's racing career began in 1995 when, aged 18, he was spotted in a 135cc event for new riders in Malaysia. In '96 he competed in the FIM Asia Pacific Road Race series and made his GP debut as a wildcard at Shah Alam. In '97 he left his home country to contest the 125cc European Championship, making further wildcard appearances at Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia. The following year he moved up to the 250 series and finished tenth, taking fifth in the Spanish Championship as well as contesting the Spanish and Malaysian Grand Prix. In 2000 Yuzy earned a full World Championship ride with Petronas Sprinta Yamaha TVK and over the last two seasons he has scored points on fifteen occasions.
