Zarco still reigns as qualifying approaches in Austria

Ajo Motorsport rider tops FP3 at the new Red Bull Ring

Frenchman Johann Zarco has been the king of the Red Bull Ring so far as MotoGP™ returns to the venue for the first time in nearly two decades, and the final Moto2™ practice session saw the Ajo Motorsport rider keep his throne at the top, with key rivals Alex Rins (Paginas Amarillas HP 40) and Garage Plus Interwetten rider Tom Luthi the men closest to the reigning champion. Marcel Shrotter (AGR Team) was fourth fastest on Saturday morning as the German shows great form in Austria, ahead of compatriot Jonas Folger (Dynavolt Intact GP), who completed the top five.

Championship contender Sam Lowes (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) was sixth fastest after finding some good time on Saturday, leading Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider Franco Morbidelli. CarXpert Interwetten’s Dominique Aegerter showed improved form to get into the top ten, as Mattia Pasini (Italtrans Racing Team) crossed the line P9 on his birthday and Leopard Racing’s Moto2™ rookie Miguel Oliveira completed the top ten.
