Navarro strikes first in Aragon

Moto3™'s title imperative weekend kicks off with home rider Jorge Navarro keeping his hopes alive in FP1

Estrella Galicia 0,0 rider Jorge Navarro has topped FP1 at MotorLand Aragon, going into the weekend as the only rider in the field to have stood on the podium at the 5.1km venue and showing his experience straight out the blocks. Compatriot Juanfran Guevara (RBA Racing Team) was second quickest, ahead of another title hope Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing Moto3), as track action got underway in mild, dry conditions in Aragon.

EG0,0 rookie Aron Canet was P4, with second RBA Racing Team rider Gabriel Rodrigo completing the top five. Jorge Martin (Gaviota Mahindra Aspar) had a good first session on a comeback from injury in P6, with Niccolo Antonelli (Ongetta-Rivacold), Fabio Quartararo (Leopard Racing), Bo Bendsneyder (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and second Leopard Racing rider Andrea Locatelli completing the top ten.

Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Ajo) began his weekend's title challenge in P11 with a steady start, as he looks to keep his lead above 100 points by the flag on Sunday - and crown himself 2016 Moto3™ World Champion.
