Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar) had a good first day at the Valencia GP as he prepares to race for Suzuki for the last time, especially pleased with the softer option rear tyre brought by Michelin to the event. Viñales, who was comfortably within the top ten in FP1, then moved up during the second session to end the day third on the combined timesheets - seemingly a big threat for Sunday.
Maverick Viñales (P3): "I have a good feeling with the Michelins and have had all year. Today the soft rear has been really good, it has a lot of grip and that means a lot to us, so we'll see if we can use it in the race because it's a really good tyre. Starting Friday in the top three with good pace and strong, I always feel good. Every time, we feel more and more ready."
