Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) was forced to sit out the Dutch GP after a crash in FP3, with the Italian breaking the third metacarpal in his left hand. He spoke to motogp.com after the race weekend to give us an update on the injury, and how it's looking going forward.

“Physically I’m fine,” says the reigning Moto2™ Champion, beginning at the beginning. “The hand is still bothering me a bit but everything else is at 100%. But it would have been difficult to race at Assen, I had a lot of pain all over and I couldn’t move my hand. It was impossible.”
So, sadly, the Dutch GP was lost – but what about Germany? As yet, the Italian hasn’t made a decision.
“It’s not certain I’ll be in Germany. I’ll have to wait and see what the doctors say, we have to wait at least a week to see how the break is and how it heals. I’ll know more next week after more medical visits.”
He would then also have to be passed fit to ride at the track, but one bit of good news? None of his rivals in the hunt for the Rookie of the Year title scored points at the TT Circuit Assen – meaning he’s still ahead, with 19 points to the 17 of Hafizh Syahrin (Monster Yamaha Tech 3).
