For the first time in over 38 years, MotoGP™ is heading to Finland. A country renowned for its passion for motorsport will finally have a World Championship race when the brand-new KymiRing plays host to the first Finnish Grand Prix since 1982.
The last Finnish Grand Prix was held at Imatra when only 125cc, 250cc and 350cc machines raced, with the last time premier class racing taking place twelve months prior. On August 9th, 1981, Marco Lucchinelli beat MotoGP™ Legend Randy Mamola by nearly twenty seconds to clinch 500cc glory and the last premier class victory on Finnish soil.
MotoGP™ Legend and eight-time 500cc World Champion Giacomo Agostini has an incredible sixteen Finnish Grand Prix victories to his name, with the Italian winning all but one Finnish Grands Prix in ten years of dominance between 1965 and 1975; along with six 350cc victories at Imatra for good measure.
