Dalla Porta pens two-year deal with Italtrans Racing Team

Current Moto3™ Championship leader will step up to the Moto2™ class in 2020

Current Moto3™ World Championship leader Lorenzo Dalla Porta (Leopard Racing) will move up to the Moto2™ class next season after Italtrans Racing Team announced they have signed the Italian on a two-year deal.

Dalla Porta rejoins former Leopard Racing teammate Enea Bastianini in the Italtrans squad next season after the latter made the step up in 2019. Dalla Porta currently leads the lightweight class standings by 14 points after picking up seven podiums so far - including a win in Germany - and heading into his home round at the San Marino GP, a race he was able to claim a maiden Grand Prix victory at in 2018, Dalla Porta can now fully focus on continuing his charge towards his first World Championship title.

Lorenzo Dalla Porta: “I’m very happy to join Italtrans Racing Team. It's a reference team in Moto2 and I’m so proud to race in the category with them. It’s a great emotion. I hope it will be an important year getting good results. Thanks to the whole team for the support.”

Laura Bertulessi, Italtrans: “Lorenzo is a young and talented rider. We are happy he joins our family: we believe that his talent and continuous growth will allow both the team and him to achieve important results. This union gives an added value, above all after the project started with Enea, who now is the Moto2 rookie and has already got an amazing podium. I'm sure that Lorenzo will follow in his footsteps and together we will achieve great results.”
