Bezzecchi tops Moto2™ private test times in Jerez

Italian quickest on Day 2 as Rodrigo sets a new lap record in the Moto3™ class

On the second day of private testing at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto, SKY Racing Team VR46’s Marco Bezzecchi was fastest in the Moto2™ class with a 1:41.410. Xavi Vierge (Petronas Sprinta Racing) was 0.311 back in P2, with rookie Aron Canet (Aspar Team) impressing to sit P3.

Day 1 leader Jorge Martin (Red Bull KTM Ajo) suffered a heavy crash early into Day 2 in Andalucia, and although he suffered no injuries, Martin was unable to continue. Speed Up’s Jorge Navarro and Nicolo Bulega (Federal Oil Team Gresini) completed the top five.

In the Moto3™ class, Gabriel Rodrigo’s (Kömmerling Gresini Moto3) 1:45.662 was a new Moto3™ lap record in Jerez. The Argentinian finished the private test just under a tenth clear of Honda Team Asia’s Ai Ogura, with John McPhee (Petronas Sprinta Racing) the only other rider to dip below the 1:46 bracket. Albert Arenas (Aspar Team) and Sergio Garcia (Estrella Galicia 0,0) rounded out the top five.

All the Moto2™ and Moto3™ teams will be at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto for the Official Test on 19-21 February.
