Grand Prix Commission decide on earlier pitlane opening

New start procedures come into play for 2020, including for wet races.

The Grand Prix Commission, composed of Messrs. Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Paul Duparc (FIM), Herve Poncharal (IRTA) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA), in an electronic meeting held on 19th. February 2020, made the following decision:

MotoGP Class – Start Procedure

Requests had been received from various broadcasters to allow more time for coverage of the MotoGP class grid procedure. It was considered that such a change could also benefit the teams as it would enable broadcasters to cover riders in all grid positions. 

Accordingly, the following change to the procedure was approved by the Grand Prix Commission. The procedure will be effective from the first event of 2020 in Qatar. 

- Pit Lane Open: 25 minutes (instead of 20) before Race Start (13:35 standard time schedule). 
- Pit Lane Close: 20 minutes (instead of 15) before Race Start (13:40 standard time schedule). 

Wet Race Start: Pit Lane Open for 10 minutes (as currently) till 15 minutes before Race Start. 

All other procedures remain unchanged
